Below is a comprehensive list of everything you need to help you get started.

Managing and maintaining your license(s) is critical. Set time aside to obtain and manage licenses in all the states you intend to sell.
Non-Resident Licensing
Where do you want to be able to sell? Do you have relatives, friends, or clients who live out of state? In order to serve anyone who doesn’t live in your state of residence, you must have a non-resident license.
Every state’s process for requesting a non-resident license is different.

Licensing Renewal
Every state has different requirements for Continuing Education to maintain a producer health license.

What carrier’s products do you want to offer clients? We recommend a variety of carriers to ensure you have enough options to meet your clients’ needs. There is no limit to the number of carriers you can contract with.
Contracts
- You only need to complete a contract the first year you are selling for the carrier. If you actively sell their products and recertify every year, the contract remains active.
- You can request a carrier contract for your state of residence from your Dashboard or contact your Broker Sales Manager.
- To request a carrier contract for a non-resident state, send an email to [email protected]. Include the carrier's name, your NPN, and the state in which you wish to be appointed or contact your Broker Sales Manager.
After you complete the contract and return it to the carrier, carriers will verify the information and complete background checks, and then provide certification instructions. Contract processing time varies by carrier and time of year.
AHIP
You must take and pass the AHIP exam every year. AHIP certification is an industry recognized method of proving that you have completed the required Medicare training courses and that you understand how to sell Medicare in a way that is compliant with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). You will only take this certification once a year, and you can share the score with most carriers.
AHIP costs $150 every year. CareFree Insurance Services will pay for your first year if you contract with at least two carriers with us. For subsequent years, many carriers offer discounts on the price of AHIP. Reach out to carriers for more information.
